Earth Day at Stephen Einhorn

Since the first Earth Day in California in 1970, born out of the horror at a giant oil spill in Santa Barbara, and inspired by the student protests against Vietnam, the world has been coming together on April 22nd to call for climate justice and an end to climate change.

Earth Day is one of the biggest secular events in the world, observed by billions of people around the globe, all affected in different ways, and to differing degrees, by climate change. In the global north we know that our actions have huge and irrevocable effects on the rest of the world. At Stephen Einhorn we use that knowledge to dictate how we run our business.

Our values around sustainability have always been clear: we want to leave a positive mark on this precious world. We make beautiful things, we believe in luxury and decadence and joy, but not at a cost to anyone or anything,  people or planet. We have worked tirelessly to earn our Positive Luxury Butterfly Mark which not only states that the way we make our products is up to standard, but so is our entire working practice. Amongst other things we:

  • Pay skilled craftspeople a fair wage to make our jewellery. We do not mass produce in foreign factories for low cost.
  • We have developed specialised 100% recyclable luxurious packaging (read more about this here).
  • We use 100% recycled precious metals and source our stones through reputable stone dealers, using only conflict-free diamonds.
  • We recycle everything possible in our premises, use LED lightbulbs and minimise water wastage and the use of disposable plastics.
  • We make jewellery to last by offering a free revamp and repair service.

We believe we have a responsibility to contribute positively to people’s lives, with beautiful jewellery, and sustainable working practices. We are proud to be leading the way in the jewellery industry and proving that it is possible to be a positive force for change without compromising on beautiful design.
