Maleficent, British Baddies & The Bespoke Jewellery Stephen Made For Angelina Jolie

Maleficent, the wicked evil fairy witchy person in Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty was originally voiced by Eleanor Audley in a very clipped British accent, which after seeing the film as a child, gave me nightmares for years!

Especially the bit where she says that “Princess Aurora will prick her finger on a spindle and DIE mwaaa hahahahahaha” Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent looks pretty evil too. She also has the same clipped English voice, which then begs the question… why are evil people always British? Are we a nation of evil baddies who, if we want to be really evil have diction lessons so as to be able to speak in ‘received’ English? That’s the other thing, I don’t want to be classist or anything but these evil ladies are very upper class aren’t they…

So Mr Bond (spoken in evil British accent)… I see you have used your inside fork by mistake? What a fool you are mwa hahahahaha! Everyone knows that that one is for the main course, that error may just cost you your life… mwa hahahahah!

But I digress…

However ‘evil’ Maleficent is we greatly enjoyed making a few bespoke jewellery designs for the film, it’s so wonderful to be able to do this kind of work here in our London workshops, with the very British and ‘Evil’ Designer Einhorn… Mwa hahahahah!
