Team Einhorn’s Christmas Do…

This year we decided we were bored with all the ideas we had had so far, we wanted to do something a little bit different in order to let our hair down a bit. So… what could be more cheerful and uplifting than a Jack the Ripper tour! We met our guide Alan Drake at Aldgate on a very cold, dark damp Tuesday evening last week.

He took us around Aldgate and stopped at all the places that Jack the Rippers victims met their untimely demise. It was very gruesome and at one point Alan suddenly shouted out and we all jumped so badly I thought there may be early onset chest pains, but everyone calmed down… slowly… It was wonderfully gruesome and spooky. At one point in Mitre Square just behind the Gherkin he pointed at me and said ‘you are actually standing where the victim Catherine Eddowes was killed’ that did put the frighteners up me a bit!

Anyway it was good. An interesting fact… for some reason the police thought it would be a good idea to plant some plane clothes police in the area incase they heard any gossip or someone let something slip because they had absolutely nothing to go on. (There was obviously no kind of forensic science and at every murder scene there would be a whole host of people tramping about destroying any physical clues.)

One of the team volunteers to show what a policeman may have looked like in a dress! As it was mainly prostitutes that were being murdered, some of the male policemen had the bright idea of dressing up as women. The only thing was they didn’t remove their beards. I simply cant imagine why no one saw past their cunning disguise.

After the talk we went to a nearby restaurant with a crate of champagne and a box of beer and some of us got a little inebriated! A thoroughly good night!

LGBTQI+ rights have come a long way since we first started our business in 1995 (although sadly we've still got a long way to go.) Back in the 1990s we were devastated to hear our gay friends tell us that they were often made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome when they shopped for their engagement, commitment and eternity rings.  We felt back then as we do now that everyone deserves to feel special and valued when buying these significant pieces of jewellery. We made it our mission to create a safe haven where every single one of our customers is treated with the utmost respect, and we only hire staff who share our values.
