We’ve also prepared a handy set of questions (which we’ve also answered) that you can ask when buying jewellery from other places, in order to help you to make more informed decisions.

This year we are proud to be taking part in Fashion Revolution Week and as part of it we would like to introduce you to the jewellers in our London workshop. What is Fashion Revolution and Fashion Revolution Week?
Fashion Revolution is a global movement that runs all year long. It celebrates fashion and jewellery as a positive influence while also scrutinising industry practices and raising awareness of the industry’s most pressing issues. It aims to show that change is possible and encourages those who are on a journey to create a more ethical and sustainable future for the fashion and jewellery industry.
Fashion Revolution strives to be action-oriented and solution focused. Rather than making people feel guilty, it helps them recognise that they have the power to do something to make a positive change.
Fashion Revolution Week (22nd – 28th April 2019) falls on the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, which killed 1138 people and injured many more on 24th April 2013. The Rana Plaza building in Dhaka, Bangladesh, housed five garment factories and some of the clothes produced in the building were made for Western retailers.

This disaster awoke the world to the poor labour conditions faced by workers in the ready-made garment sector in Bangladesh and on that day Fashion Revolution was born. During this week, brands and producers are encouraged to respond with the hashtag #imadeyourclothes #imadeyourjewellery and to demonstrate transparency in their supply chain. As well as this, consumers are called upon to use their voices for a fairer, safer and more transparent global fashion and jewellery industry.
How can I get involved in the Fashion Revolution movement?
Your voice can change everything. Since Fashion Revolution started, people from all over the world have used their voices and their power to tell brands that things must change, and it’s working. The industry is starting to change and more brands are being open about where their clothing and jewellery is made. More manufacturers are making their factories safer and more producers are being seen and heard. But the story is far from over. We can’t stop until every worker who makes the clothes and jewellery we love is seen, heard, paid properly and is working in safe conditions.
There are many ways you can get involved (you can read more on the Fashion Revolution website) but a very simple way is to ask brands #whomademyclothes and #whomademyjewellery. Contact them directly or tag them into a post on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. You can also vote with your feet, you have the means, you have the power!
